18 September 2023 - Victoria’s Cardinia Shire Council has gone live with TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution to support its growing population, major capital works project and vital business processes.

The south-east Melbourne council is one of the fastest growing local government areas in the state, expecting to reach a population of more than 183,000 by 2041 – a 40 per cent increase in 18 years. To keep up with this rapid growth, Cardinia needed a modern solution to support its project and back-office reporting, particularly its multi-million-dollar capital works project to improve community infrastructure and assets.

In July 2022, the long-standing TechnologyOne customer decided to uplift its existing, on-premise OneCouncil solution – including Financials, Supply Chain Management and Enterprise Budgeting – to the company’s secure SaaS platforms, while adding the Project Lifecycle Management and Business Analytics modules to provide deeper functionality. With these new modules Council can empower its team to analyse information and act quickly through personalised and pre-configured dashboards that are easy-to-use, make complex data easy to read and can save time, risk and money.

Cardinia’s CFO, Scott Moore, said the move to SaaS was a massive step for the future of the council.

“Our community is growing quickly, and to keep up, we wanted to leverage smart technology. Moving to a modern, intuitive SaaS platform means we’re not burdened with managing back-office technology, and our teams can now work from anywhere, anytime and any device. TechnologyOne is helping streamline reporting, making our data and processes more transparent and efficient across the organisation and allowing much better long-term financial modelling,” said Mr Moore.

“We’ve turned our focus to renewing our existing infrastructure, including roads, bridges, sports and recreation facilities, parks and more and the new Product Lifecycle Management means we can deliver our ambitious infrastructure agenda for our residents and visitors quickly and efficiently.”

The move to TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil SaaS solution will provide a single source of truth to the council team members, who are already seeing the benefits.

TechnologyOne’s local government expert, Loretta Libke, said the company’s long-standing and deep-seeded knowledge of local government delivered major benefits for the community through an integrated SaaS solution.

“As an Australian company that has been working with Australian councils for more than 30 years, we see the journey the staff and residents go through as they grow. They need to move quickly with the confidence that their back-end IT infrastructure can support them in delivering community projects on time and within budget.”

“We are incredibly proud to be supporting councils, like Cardinia Shire, so they can thrive now and into the future,” said Mrs Libke.

TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil solution supports more than 100 councils globally – in Australia and New Zealand along, 73% of residents live in a council powered by the company’s software.
